Analysis:
In this poster, a private by the name of Joe Louis is mentioned. Joe Louis was a famous professional boxer and the World Heavyweight Champion from 1937 to 1949 who had also fought for America during World War II. Although Joe Louis was hundred times more recognizable than your average G.I., he still looked and acted just like your average soldier. Famous or not, he still wore the dark colored military fatigues, a helmet, and carried a gun with a bayonet, as seen in the propaganda poster above. Even his rank was Private, the lowest in the United States Army. This shows that Joe Louis is not much different than an average soldier who isn’t famous or rich. Both fight for their lives and both fight to win the war.
