Analysis:
This American anti-Axis propaganda poster portrays a giant looming monster with two heads and bloody teeth, holding a bloody knife in one hand and the statue of liberty, ripped off from her pedestal in the other. Upon closer examination, you can see that one head has a close resemblance to Hitler, with his dark hair and moustache wearing a helmet with a Nazi swastika and the other looks like a stereotypical Japanese, wearing glasses and a Japanese officer’s hat. This propaganda poster portrays the Axis powers, Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, as monsters that “stops at nothing." With this portrayal, the American public is left fearful and raged at this disgusting monster, the Axis powers. The bloody, evil, hell-bringer that is this monster strikes fear into the people's hearts as it looks scary. It also causes rage among the people as this monster is seen tearing apart the Statue of Liberty, the symbol of freedom for the Americans. Made during the Second World War, this poster uses Demons, Atrocities, and Lies to present the monstrous and devilish threat the Axis powers presents to the Allied nations and calls for the people of the United States of America to stand up against the Axis powers by "producing to the limit."
